The low-key couple first sparked engagement rumors at the BAFTAs over the weekend when they walked the red carpet together hand-in-hand with Ashton seemingly keeping her left ring finger just out of sight, hidden behind the very long sleeves of her baby pink gown.

Later that evening, however, in a selfie shared by British TV presenter AJ Odudu on her Instagram Stories, the actress could be seen wearing a very large diamond ring.

The two actors first met when they starred together in the 2019 West End production of the play Betrayal, making their red carpet debut as a couple at the Tony Awards in September of last year.

The play follows the story of Hiddleston’s character Robert, a man whose wife Emma, played by Ashton, is having an affair with his best friend. Last year, it was also reported that the pair had moved in together and were living in Atlanta, Georgia, per the Daily Mail.

Hiddleston has become a household name thanks to his role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the actor has always chosen to keep his romantic life out of the spotlight. In a 2017 interview with The Telegraph, he explained that the reason he doesn’t discuss his relationships is that he believes, “Everyone is entitled to a private life.”

He added, “I love what I do and I dedicate myself with an absolute commitment to making great art and great entertainment, and in my mind, I don’t conflict the two. My work is in the public sphere and I have a private life. And those two things are separate.”

Representatives for Hiddleston and Ashton declined to comment.
