Vedam Oldie Nagaiah?

Vedam Oldie Nagaiah: Remember the oldie from director Krish Jagarlamudi’s ‘Vedam’? He is Nagaiah and he passed away a few hours ago today i.e Saturday.

In ‘Vedam’ Nagaiah played the role of Siricilla Ramulu and his performance received huge applause. But the appreciation did not fetch him opportunities. Ramulu played cameos in nearly 30 films. But after that offers completely dried up.

At one point of time, Ramulu was found begging on the streets of Filmnagar circles and in the pandemic, he received help from MAA and Telangana government.

Vedam Oldie Nagaiah hails from Desavarampeta of Guntur district. Recently his wife succumbed due to ill health and since then Nagaiah is not keeping good health too. This morning around 4:30, he breathed his last.

Vedam Oldie Nagaiah experienced many hardships in real life, like the characters he played. Born in Desavarampeta near Narsaraopeta in the Guntur district, he owned two-acre land there. Unable to work in his village, Nagaiah came to Hyderabad along with his son.

One day he accidentally met producer Radhakrishna and got a chance in ‘Vedam’. Shot to fame with his role in Vedam, Nagaiah changed his surname to ‘Vedam’ Nagaiah.

Vedam Oldie Nagaiah has acted in 25 films like Vedam, Nagavalli, Okkadine, Student Star, Ramayya Vasthavayya, Spider among others. He received a remuneration of around Rs 3,000 to Rs 25,000. The leading character artist impressed everyone with his portrayal of many roles.

However, movies could not feed him and helped him to come out of his problems. His wife died recently because of illness. On the other hand, he even begged at the road of the film industry. When this came to their notice, Telangana Chief Minister KCR provided financial help of Rs. 1 lakh.
