Tarsame Singh Saini (23 May 1967 – 29 April 2022), also known as Taz Stereo Nation and previously Johnny Zee, was a British singer, composer, and actor of Indian descent.

He was the lead singer of the pop band Stereo Nation which was formed in 1996. He was credited with being the pioneer of cross-cultural Asian fusion music.

Born on 27th May 1967, Taz’s birth name is Tarsame Singh Saini. He is a British singer, actor and composer. He is the lead singer of the band called Stereo Nation, founded in 1996.

He was previously known as Johnny Zee and is heralded as a pioneer of cross-cultural Asian fusion music.

He launched his first album in 1989 called Hit The Deck, and it remained on number one pop song on UK Asian pop charts. In the 1990s and 2000s, he produced many more albums, most of which received gold and multi-platinum discs.

His most famous songs include Gallan Gorian and Naachenge Saari Raat, from the album Slave II Fusion, which was released in 2000. The previously infamous actors like Shiny Ahuja and Koena Mitra were featured in his songs before they got into films.

He was awarded the Best International Artist at the UK Asian Music Awards in 2005. He made his acting debut in 2007, with the film titled Don’t Stop Dreaming.

Born on 23 May 1967, Coventry, West Midlands, United Kingdom, Tarsame Singh Saini is a British singer, composer and, actor based on U.K but Indian accent. Tarsame is credited with being the pioneer of cross-cultural Asian fusion music.

And, because of being the lead singer of the pop band Stereo Nation, formed in 1996, he is also known by the name, ‘Taz Stereo Nation.’ Tarsame always desired of doing something distinct and, ulterior he became the pioneer of Cross-Cultural Asian fusion music.

Being drawn towards western music since childhood, he always dreamt of becoming a professional singer, and so his first album ‘Hit the Deck’ which released in 1989, remained 35 weeks at the top position on the UK Asian pop charts.

The album was produced by Tom Lowry. He received gold platinum and multi-platinum discs for two of his albums. From his most successful album till date, “Slave II Fusion,” released in 2000 are his very popular hit songs including “Pyar Ho Gaya,” “Nachenge Saari Raat,” and “Gallan Gorian.”

Some of the actors before they became famous featured in his videos, like, Koena Mitra, featured in “Ishq,” and Shiny Ahuja featured in “Pyar Ho Gaya.” He also did playback singing for his widely known tracks ‘Daroo Vich Pyaar’ of 2001 movie, and ‘It’s Magic’ of 2003 movie, Koi Mil Gaya.

He did film debut in 2007 with, ‘Don’t Stop Dreaming’ starring, ‘Rishi Kapoor’ and ‘Sunil Shetty’ in lead roles, for which he composed the soundtrack and also did the playback singing. His debut Bollywood song, ‘Daroo wich Pyaar’, also featured him. ‘Mujhpe to jaadoo of race,’ ‘Mr. Bhatti on chutti,’ ‘It’s a wonderful afterlife’ are other noted songs.

He released his new album, ‘Jawani On The Rocks’ in 2008. Hit singles from this album are, “Meri Nazron Mein Tu Hai,” and “Hai Hai Jawani.” His successful album, “Twist and Shout” got released in 2010. His first album was ‘Hit the Deck,’ later on, he went on producing amazing alums each year till 2002, then he started taking a gap of 2-3 years for producing an album.

His game got stronger with every growing year. He produced 7 albums consecutively from 1990-96, The Remix Album (1990), Vibes (1991), Back To My Roots (1992), From me to You (1993), Spirits of Rhythm (1994), New Dawn (1995), I’ve Been Waiting (1996).

Then came back with Jambo in 1998, Nasha in 1999, Slave II Fusion [Oh Laila] in 2000. Then, in 2002 came Tazmania, Cafe Mumbai [Apna Sangeet] in 2003/2004, Jawani On The Rocks in 2008, Rewind Selekta in 2009, Twist & Shout in 2010, and Desi & U know it in 2012.

His contribution is also in the soundtracks for the films, Tum Bin (2001, song: Daroo Vich Pyar), Koi Mil Gaya (2003, song: It’s Magic), Race (2008, song: Mujhpe To Jadoo), It’s a Wonderful Afterlife (2010), Diary Of A Butterfly (2012), and Mr. Bhatti on Chutti (2012). All of his work led him to the award of, “Best International Artist” at UK Asian Music Awards, 2005.
