Who is Richard Sherman?
Richard Sherman or Richard Kevin Sherman born March 30, 1988, is an American football cornerback who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl five times and voted All-Pro five times, including three times to the first team. He led the NFL in interceptions in 2013, when he also helped the Seahawks win their first Super Bowl.

Former All-Pro Richard Sherman was arrested early Wednesday morning on a burglary domestic violence charge, but new disturbing details surrounding the arrest emerged later in the afternoon.
The audio of Sherman’s wife, Ashley Moss, calling 911 was obtained by KIRO in Seattle. She explained to the dispatcher that Sherman was drunk and threatened to commit suicide. She added that he was aggressive and physical.
“He’s threatening to kill himself,” Moss told the dispatcher. “He has sent text messages to people saying he’s going to hang himself… This is like a f— emergency, I need officers here now.”
Sherman reportedly tried breaking into his in-laws’ home in Redmond, Washington around 2 a.m., according to Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe. Police officers tried to calm the situation down, authorities said. One state trooper developed some kind of rapport with Sherman and told him how he once parked his car while he was working as a valet when he was a teenager.
The NFLPA released a statement saying: “We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us.”
Sherman became a Seattle sports all-time great during seven seasons with the Seahawks. He was a key piece during their incredible run to a 2014 Super Bowl victory.
A five-time Pro Bowler, Sherman spent the last three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers but missed much of the 2020 season because of a calf strain. He was released in February.

On February 5, 2014, four days after Super Bowl XLVIII, Sherman’s girlfriend Ashley Moss gave birth to their first son, Rayden Sherman. Moss and Sherman were engaged in June 2015. The couple welcomed their second child, daughter Avery, on April 16, 2016. Sherman and Moss were married on March 28, 2018.
Sherman’s outspoken personality, tendency for making big plays, and his frequent trash-talk have seen him become one of the NFL’s most well-known players. His trash-talking personality is what has brought him into the spotlight. In January 2014, he garnered national attention with a post-game interview made immediately after his tipped pass ensured the Seahawks a victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the 2013 NFC Championship game, in which he labeled himself the “best corner in the game” and called San Francisco wide receiver Michael Crabtree, to whom the decisive pass had been thrown, a “sorry” receiver.
Sherman was featured on the cover of Madden NFL 15. Sherman also actively writes for The Players’ Tribune.
Sherman has his own charity called Blanket Coverage – The Richard Sherman Family Foundation. In 2013, Sherman started his charity to help children in low-income communities by providing them with school supplies and clothing. His foundation was formed to help children across the country achieve academic success.
Sherman is interested in cryptocurrency and tech stocks and is also an ambassador for the trivia app FleetWit. Sherman is a co-owner of the Glacier Boyz for the Fan Controlled Football league. Their first game was on February 13, 2021.

On July 14, 2021, Sherman was arrested and charged with burglary, domestic violence, resisting arrest, and malicious mischief. Additionally, misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run charges are also being considered by the Washington State patrol, but Sherman has not yet been charged with these offenses. According to the AP, Sherman sustained minor cuts to his leg during the arrest as a result of the officers deployment of a K9 to subdue him, he was treated at a hospital prior to being taken to jail.
Sherman was booked into the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle just after 6am on July 14, 2021. Sherman was denied bail on the day of his arrest and is expected to appear before a judge on July 15th, 2021. The NFL reportedly activated its emergency Domestic Violence protocols and opened an investigation into the matter to determine appropriate discipline for Sherman on July 14, 2021.
