Rajiv Satav or Rajeev Shankarrao Satav was an Indian politician from the Indian National Congress. Rajiv Satav was born on 21 September 1974 and he passed away in Pune, Maharashtra, India due to Covid 19 on 16 May 2021. He was the member of the Rajya Sabha the upper house of Indian Parliament from Maharashtra.

His death was reported early on Sunday. Senior Congress leaders have mourned the death of Rajiv Satav. Rajiv Satava was considered to be very close to Rahul Gandhi, the former president of the Congress.
Congress MP Rajiv Satav was found to be Corona infected on 22 April. He was admitted to the Jahangir Hospital in Pune. His condition deteriorated here and he was then put on ventilator.
The corona report came negative but after being on ventilator for a few days, his health was slowly improving. His corona report also came negative. At that time, doctors had said that the seventh is healthy and will be discharged in the hospital soon.
Rajiv’s health deteriorated again even before he was discharged from the hospital. The MP has to be put on ventilator again. Even after being corona negative, he was found to have pneumonia.
In Jalna, the virus found cytomegalo was reported by Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Saturday that Satava was recovering slowly, but his health deteriorated again and now his condition remains critical. Doctors have come to know that he has been infected with cytomegalo virus.
Experts are being consulted in this matter. The Health Minister, who was about to meet, had said that he would go to Jahangir Hospital in Pune on Sunday to know the health condition of Rajiv Satava. However, information about his death came before that. Rajiv’s death was mourned by tweeting from the official Congress account.
On the notice of Rajiv Satav’s death, Congress national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted, ‘Nishabd! Today I lost a colleague who took the first step of public life with me in the Youth Congress and walked with me till today … I will always remember the simplicity of Rajiv Satav, the unmistakable grin, ground connection, leadership and loyalty and friendship from the party. Good bye my friend ! Stay where you are, shine !!! ‘

Rajiv Satav was serving as the Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, formerly Member of Parliament in 16th Lok Sabha from Hingoli in Maharashtra. He defeated Subhash Wankhede, Shiv Sena MP and a two time MLA. He has the distinction of wresting the Kalamnuri Assembly seat in Marathwada region from the Shiv Sena after 20 years in the 2009 elections.
Rajiv Satav was the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Incharge for the State of Gujarat & Permanent Invitee to Congress Working Committee which is the highest decision-making body of Indian National Congress. Before his appointment as In Charge of Gujarat he was also the AICC Secretary in charge for Saurashtra region during the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha Elections 2017, where Congress won the maximum seats.
Rajeev Satav was also a member of the Screening Committee for the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Elections 2017. He was President of the Indian Youth Congress from February 2010 to December 2014. Before occupying the prestigious position of President, Indian Youth Congress, he was President of Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress from May 2008 to February 2010.

Rajiv Satav Controversy
On 21 September 2020, Rajiv Satav along with seven other members were suspended from the Rajya Sabha for their unruly behaviour in the house by tearing documents, breaking mics, and heckling the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Their actions were condemned by several leaders.
