Nayanthara’s most awaited film Netrikann has released on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar on Friday, August 13, 2021, at 12:15 pm.
The film is directed by Milind Rau and is a psychological thriller. Apart from Tamil, the film will also release in multiple languages including Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Produced by Vignesh Shivan under the banner of Rowdy Picture, Netrikann was earlier scheduled to release in theatres however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the makers of the film decided to release it on the OTT platform. The star cast of the film include Nayanthara, Ajmal Ameer, Manikandan and Sharan Shakti.
In “Netrikann”, Nayanthara is playing a visually challenged woman who unravels a world beyond what meets the eye, in her quest for justice. The film is reportedly an official remake of the 2011 South Korean movie “Blind” as per a report by PTI.
“The film is centered around a unique and resilient woman, portrayed by Nayanthara with such elan. As a visually impaired woman, she uses her senses to the best of her abilities to track down a serial killer and uncover hidden truths. The film is unconventional and thrilling – audiences who enjoy bold content will love Netrikann,” producer Vignesh Shivan said in a release, as per a report by PTI.
Nayanthara referred to as the lady superstar of South cinema, is famous for films like “Aram”, “Kolamavu Kokila”, “Sri Rama Rajyam”, and “Imaikkaa Nodigal”.

Nayanthara made her acting debut in the 2003 Malayalam film Manassinakkare (2003) with Jayaram. She made her debut in Tamil cinema with Ayya (2005) and Telugu with Lakshmi (2006). In 2010, Nayanthara also made her Kannada film debut through the film Super, her only appearance in a Kannada film to date. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actress for her performance in Raja Rani (2013), Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015), and Aramm (2017). Nayanthara was born as Diana Mariam Kurian in Bangalore, Karnataka, India to MalayaliChristian parents Kurian Kodiyattu and Omana Kurian who hail from the aristocratic Kodiyattu family from Thiruvalla, Kerala. Her elder brother, Leno, lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As her father was an Indian Air Force official, Nayanthara studied in various parts of India, mainly in North India. She did her schooling in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and Delhi. In Thiruvalla, she studied at Balikamadom Girls Higher Secondary School and then attended Marthoma College, Thiruvalla for her bachelor’s degree in English Literature.

Nayanthara was in a relationship with Silambarasan after they worked together in Vallavan. However, their relationship ended after few years. While working in Villu, Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva fell in love with each other. They were in a relationship for few years and decided to get married.
However, in 2010, Prabhu Deva’s wife Latha filed a petition at the family court, seeking directions against Deva from living in a relationship with Nayanthara and requesting a reunion with him. After the purification ceremony, a Certificate of Conversion to Hinduism was issued to her, and her stage name, Nayanthara, became her official name. During the making, in 2008, and after the release of her film Villu, reports suggested that she was in a relationship with its director Prabhu Deva, with some sources even claiming that both had married secretly in June 2009.

In September 2010, Prabhu Deva openly confessed his love for Nayantara and further stated that he would marry her soon.
