Matt Hancock or Matthew John David Hancock born on 2 October 1978 is a British politician serving as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care since 2018. He previously served as Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in 2018, for six months. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been Member of Parliament (MP) for West Suffolk since 2010.

On 25 June 2021, it was alleged that Hancock was having an affair with Gina Coladangelo, an adviser in the Department of Health and Social Care, after CCTV images of him kissing her in his Whitehall office on 6 May were published in The Sun newspaper. The government’s social distancing guidelines only allowed intimate contact with people from a different household from 17 May.
The previous year Hancock had failed to declare he had appointed Coladangelo as an unpaid adviser at the department and later to a paid non-executive director role on its board. Coladangelo met Hancock at Oxford University, was a director at Luther Pendragon, and is said to be a millionaire. She is the head of marketing for the retail firm Oliver Bonas which was founded by her husband Oliver Tress.
Later on 25 June 2021, Hancock admitted that he “breached the social distancing guidelines in these circumstances” and apologised for “letting people down.” Boris Johnson later said that he accepted the apology, had “full confidence” in Hancock and considered the matter “closed”.

Matthew John David Hancock was born on 2 October 1978 in Chester, Cheshire, to Michael Hancock and Shirley Hills (now Carter). Hancock has an older sister and a brother.
After university, Hancock briefly worked for his family’s computer software company and for a backbench Conservative MP, before moving to London to work as an economist at the Bank of England, specialising in the housing market. In 2005, he became an economic adviser to the Shadow Chancellor of the ExchequerGeorge Osborne, later becoming Osborne’s chief of staff.
Hancock served as a Junior Minister at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills from September 2013 to May 2015 and was the United Kingdom Anti-Corruption Champion from 2014 to 2015. He attended David Cameron’s Cabinet as Minister for the Cabinet Office from 2015 to 2016. After Theresa May became Prime Minister in 2016, Hancock was demoted to Minister of State for Digital and Culture. Matt Hancock Resigns
UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock resigned on Saturday following revelations he broke government coronavirus restrictions during an affair with a close aide, with former finance minister Sajid Javid taking up the role.
The frontman for Britain’s response to the pandemic, particularly the nationwide vaccine roll-out, quit in a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
“We owe it to people who have sacrificed so much in this pandemic to be honest when we have let them down as I have done by breaching the guidance,” he wrote.
“The last thing I would want is for my private life to distract attention from the single-minded focus that is leading us out of this crisis.”
Johnson said he was sorry to receive Hancock’s resignation, and that he should be “immensely proud” of his service.
His Downing Street office later said that Queen Elizabeth II had approved the appointment of Sajid Javid MP as his replacement.

Hancock married Martha Hoyer Millar, an osteopath, in 2006. She is a granddaughter of Frederick Millar, 1st Baron Inchyra. They have a daughter and two sons, and none of the children are allowed by him to use social media. The family live in Little Thurlow in his West Suffolk parliamentary constituency.
Hancock has announced that he has dyslexia, a fact that first became apparent while he was studying at Oxford.
