He formerly lived in the Manchester suburb of Didsbury, but later moved to a village of Norley near Delamere Forest in rural Cheshire when he was still a child. Here his father was appointed as the headmaster of Delamere Forest School. His mother unfortunately died in a car accident when he was still a child. Lewis is Jewish and practises his faith.

Martin Lewis Career
After graduation, Lewis started working as a producer for the BBC Business Unit and BBC Radio Five Live and as a editor for BBC Radio 4’s Today. He then moved to Simply Money a satellite channel where he cultivated his “Money Saving Expert” persona. He appeared as the Money Saving Expert for the first time on the show “Save yourself a fortune”.
Lewis created the website “MoneySavingExpert.com” which he later sold to the website Moneysupermarket.com, while still remaining the editor-in-chief. He writes columns in The Sunday Post, The Yorkshire Post, Manchester Evening News, Express & Star, The Sunday Times, News of the World, The Guardian and Sunday Express. In 2012, he started co-presenting “The Martin Lewis Money Show” and also appears weekly on the “Emma Barnett Show”. He appeared on the Desert Island Discs on BBC Radio 4 in 2020.
