Amanda Leigh Moore (born April 10, 1984) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She rose to fame with her debut single, “Candy”, which peaked at number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her debut studio album, So Real (1999), received a platinum certification from the RIAA.
The title single from her first compilation album, I Wanna Be With You (2000), became Moore’s first top 40 song in the U.S., peaking at number 24 on the Hot 100. Moore subsequently released the studio albums Mandy Moore (2001), Coverage (2003), Wild Hope (2007), Amanda Leigh (2009) and Silver Landings (2020). Overall Moore has sold 2.7 million albums in the US according to Billboard.

Amanda Leigh Moore was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on April 10, 1984, to Stacy (Friedman), a former news reporter, and Don Moore, an airline pilot. During her childhood, her family moved to Orlando, Florida, where she was raised. She has Russian Jewish (from her maternal grandfather), English, Scottish, and Irish, ancestry.
After seeing the musical “Oklahoma!”, she decided that she wanted to pursue a career in singing. As a child, she performed the National Anthem at several athletic events around her hometown of Orlando, Florida, and became known as the “National Anthem girl”.
At the ripe age of fourteen, while she was recording in a studio in Orlando, a Fed-Ex worker who happened to be passing through heard her and was interested in her talent. He happened to know someone at Sony as well. Moore worked on cutting a demo and shortly thereafter signed a record deal with Sony 550 Music. At 15, her first record “So Real” was released. Her first tour was with the Backstreet Boys.
As her touring and recording schedule demanded more of her time, Moore withdrew from Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando and opted for a tutor/correspondence. She has stated that her education is important to her and says that the fact that she wants to go to college motivates her to continue with her schooling.

Mandy Moore Career
Since she entered the music world while she was still at school she dropped out and continued her education through private tutoring. She accompanied the pop band ‘N Sync on their concert tour through North America in early 1999.
The same year she also toured with the Backstreet Boys. Her debut single ‘Candy’ was out in August 1999. It reached the Billboard Hot 100 list and was a big commercial hit in various countries and was the most successful in Australia.
Mandy released her debut album ‘So Real’ in December 1999. The album received mixed critical reviews though it eventually became a commercial success with a sales figure exceeding one million copies in the U.S. alone.
Her second album ‘I Wanna Be With You’ was out in 2000. This album which consisted of new songs as well as remixes from her previous album was the international version of her debut ‘So Real’ which was released only in a few countries.
In 2001, she released her self-titled album ‘Mandy Moore’. It featured a sound that departed from the bubblegum pop sound she had been associated with so far. It was more inclined towards R&B and pop rock.

She played Hilary Faye in the teen comedy drama ‘Saved!’ in 2004. The film deals with topics such as religion, homophobia, teen pregnancy, divorce, ostracism, etc. In 2007, she brought out the album ‘Wild Hope’ which was her first in four years. She claimed that she dealt with her depression issues through this album and that it helped her embark on a path of self-discovery.
Her latest album ‘Amanda Leigh’ was released in 2009. The songs in this album are folk style with country and pop influences. The song ‘I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week’ was the first single from this album.
The decade of 2010s started off very well for her acting career. She voiced the character Rapunzel in ‘Tangled’ (2010) and ‘Tangled Ever After’ (2012). She also appeared in the movie ‘Love, Wedding, Marriage’ in 2011 in which she played Ava.
