Jerry Reed Career, Achievements

After graduating from high school, he signed a music contract with Capitol Records in 1955. He recorded songs such as Mister Whiz, Creeks Don’t Rise, and Here I Am. Reed took his musical name, Jerry Reed, dropping his Hubbard surname in his name. Reed has recorded 30 songs for Capitol Records.

When his three-year contract expired, Reed moved to the National Recording Corporation in 1958. He became a member of the band’s staff band. He recorded only six songs under Bill Lowery, National Recording Corporation CEO.

In 1959 Reed left the recording label and joined the US military. In his military service, he joined the military. Reed recorded songs and composed them for other artists. In 1962 he composed the song Misery Loves Company, sung by Porter Wagoner. The song has been a commercial success in the US. He later joined Columbia Records toward the end of military service. He recorded twenty songs with Columbia, leaving the label company in 1963. He moved to Nashville after his military discharge.

Reed found his success in Nashville. In 1964 he signed a recording contract with RCA Victor. He has played a studio that supports the role of artist for other artists who record for three years. These artists include Bobby Bare and Elvis Presley. He recorded his debut album RCA Victor in 1967. The album titled The Unbelievable Guitar and the Voice of Jerry Reed marked his rise to prominence.

He has been on the label for 20 years singing American country music and pop genres. Reed had great commercial success with his recording of When You’re Hot, You’re hot in 1971. Other albums he recorded in the 1970s include Me and Jerry in 1970, Me and Chet released in 1972, and Lord, Mr. Ford released in 1973.

He went in and out of RCA Victor to record other labels during his career. In the 1980s he recorded two albums with Capitol Records. He produced the album Lookin ’At You in 1984, followed by What Comes Around in 1985. Some of the songs he recorded with the 1982 song She Got the Gold Mine.

In 1992 he recorded his own album Sneakin ’Around and Columbia Record. In 1995 he met his old friend Bill Lowery. Reed has made two albums with Lowery’s new recording label Southern Tracks. Albums titled Flyin ‘High, and Pickin’ were recorded in 1995 and 1998 respectively. Later in 1998, he joined other artists and formed the band Old Dogs. He had been with a group recording one album before he left.

In the fall of 1998, Reed launched his own record label RIIK Records. He released such hit albums as Jerry Reed Visits Hit Row in 1999, two albums Finger Dancing and Forever Chet in 2000, and Christmas at the Mall in 2007.
