Jamal Edwards MBE (24 August 1990 – 20 February 2022) was a British entrepreneur, author, director, DJ, and founder of the online urban music platform SB.TV.

He was born in Luton, England, and spent his early years there before moving to Acton, West London, where he lived with his mother Brenda Edwards, his stepfather, Patrick, and his younger sister, Tanisha. Edwards’ family originates from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Jamal Edwards, known for founding media platform SBTV, which helped catapult grime and a wave of new artists to a global audience, died on Sunday morning aged 31.

Edwards was also a director, author, DJ, entrepreneur and designer, and was awarded an MBE in 2014 – when he was 24 – for his work in music.

The careers of some of the world’s most successful musicians – including Ed Sheeran, Dave and Jessie J in a long list – were launched through SBTV, Edwards’ platform, which began as a YouTube channel, before they were signed by major labels.

Edwards said he started SBTV “on a £20 phone” while he was still at school and grew it into a leading online youth broadcaster. His YouTube channel was established in 2006 and now boasts 1.2m subscribers and nearly 1bn total views.

Jamal Edwards was a British entrepreneur, author, director, as well as a DJ. He was famous for being the founder of the online urban music platform SB.TV. He also set up Jamal Edwards Delve, a project aimed at refurbishing and reopening youth centers in the year 2021.

As well as his online platform, he released an ebook, ‘Self Belief: The Vision: How To Be a Success on Your Own Terms’. His book achieved success and was the number 1 bestselling ebook series according to iBooks.

Also, he directed the Chelsea FC remix video of grime artist Capo Lee’s ‘Style and Swag’ in 2019. In November 2021, he launched the 8BARS app. As of 2021, he was signed to RadicalMedia as a director.

In December 2021, he directed Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” Remix, featuring Tion Wayne and Central Cee. Sadly, he died on 20th February 2022.

Jamal Edwards MBE was born on 24th August 1990 in Luton, England. By profession, he is a British entrepreneur, author, director & DJ. In 2019, Edwards directed the Chelsea FC remix video of many artist Capo Lee’s ‘Style and Swag’.

He got funding from Google and the Welcome Trust, in 2019 Edwards launched Jamal Edwards Delve (JED) a grassroots youth-center project.
