Frederick Aaron Savage (born July 9, 1976) is an American actor and television director, known for his role as Kevin Arnold in the American television series The Wonder Years (1988 to 1993). 

He has earned several awards and nominations, such as People’s Choice Awards and Young Artist Awards. He is also known for playing the Grandson in The Princess Bride, and voiced the titular protagonist in Oswald.

Savage has worked as a director, and in 2005 later starred in the television sitcom Crumbs. More recently, Savage returned to acting in the television series The Grinder, as well as the Netflix series Friends from College.

Fred Savage was born July 9, 1976. He began acting at age 9 in a production produced by Lorimar called Morningstar/Eveningstar (1986).

He was found by Roger Damon Price to play the role of Alan Bishop. During production, Fred auditioned for The Boy Who Could Fly (1986) which launched Jay Underwood’s career.

At the age of twelve, he was cast in the lead role of the series The Wonder Years (1988). He was later in the movie Vice Versa (1988) with Judge Reinhold and then in Little Monsters (1989), in which he worked with his younger brother Ben Savage.

Then, he went into the movie The Wizard (1989), with Luke Edwards, Christian Slater, Jenny Lewis, and Beau Bridges. 

The Wonder Years (1988) was canceled while his younger brother Ben Savage got the lead in the show Boy Meets World (1993). He stopped working for a couple of years until he was cast in the series Working (1997).

Savage was educated at Brentwood School, a private co-educational day school in Brentwood, in the Westside area of Los Angeles County in California. He graduated from Stanford University in 1999, with a bachelor’s degree in English and as a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Fred Savage’s career in films began with the 1986 comedy-drama film ‘The Boy Who Could Fly’. Written and directed by Nick Castle, the film is about a fourteen-year-old girl who loses her terminally ill father, and her autistic friend played by Savage.

The film didn’t do well commercially but received mostly positive reviews. The movie also earned Fred the ‘Young Artist Award’, for Best Supporting Actor, which was the first award in his career. His career in TV also started in 1986, with a supporting role in the well-known TV series ‘The Twilight Zone’.

The show, which had started airing in 1985, on the CBS network, ran till 1989, covering three seasons.In 1987 he appeared in ‘Dinosaurs! – A Fun-Filled Trip Back in Time!’, a short film in which he played the lead role. The same year, he appeared in the adventure fantasy film ‘The Princess Bride’, a movie based on a novel of the same name by William Goldman.

The film was a commercial success, and received mostly positive reviews. The film earned Fred his second award, the ‘Young Artist Award’, for Best Actor. The next year, he appeared in ‘Vice Versa’, a 1988 American comedy film, which was about an ancient skull stolen by some thieves from a Buddhist monastery.

Though the film flopped at the box office, Fred’s performance won him the ‘Saturn Award for Best Young Performer’. In 1988 Fred Savage started playing the lead role in ‘The Wonder Years’, a TV comedy series, which eventually became one of the most successful shows of the time, winning a Primetime Emmy Award, only after six episodes.
