Elvis Costello Career

Costello first stint in music was for Stiff through a song called 'Less Than Zero' in 1977. Four months later he released his debut album 'My Aim Is True'. He later signed a contract with Columbia Records. He released his first major hit single 'Watching the Detectives'. His album 'Get Happy!!' was one of his experiments and had songs that were nowhere close to his previous genres. He once mockingly described himself as 'Rock and Roll's Scrabble Champion' owing to his wordplay in songs. Costello announced his retirement and break-up from his team The Attractions' in 1984. He again started his journey as a solo artist through a Live Aid benefit concert in England, where he covered the Beatles 'All You Need Is Love'.

Costello's contract with Columbia Records ended after his album 'Blood & Chocolate'. He experimented with classical music with 'The Juliet Letters' which was a collaboration. He later signed a multi-label contract with Polygram Records and then signed a new contract in 1998 with Mercury Records. In 2021, he released 'Spanish Model' a album in Spanish and this year he performed on The Graham Norton Show.
