Brad William Johnson (October 24, 1959 – February 18, 2022) was an American actor and Marlboro Man. The former rodeo cowboy and “Marlboro Man” also appeared on ‘Melrose Place’ and ‘Soldier of Fortune, Inc.’ and in ‘Left Behind’ and Ned Blessing movies.

Brad Johnson, the onetime rodeo cowboy and “Marlboro Man” who starred opposite Holly Hunter and Richard Dreyfuss in the Steven Spielberg romantic drama Always, has died. He was 62.

While working the rodeo circuit, he attracted the attention of commercial talent scouts and started booking work, soon becoming the Marlboro Man for a period of time.

Johnson’s first big acting role, after some uncredited appearances, came in Spielberg’s 1989 drama Always, where he acted opposite Holly Hunter and Richard Dreyfuss.

Johnson was born in Tucson, Arizona, the son of Grove and Virginia Johnson. His first acting credit was in the low-budget biker film The Nam Angels (1989), and shortly after he had his first co-starring role, in Steven Spielberg’s 1989 film Always. Other films included Flight of the IntruderPhiladelphia Experiment IIThe Birds II: Land’s EndCopperhead and Supergator. He played Rayford Steele in the Left Behind film series and played Dr. Dominick O’Malley on Melrose Place.

The father of six daughters and two sons, Johnson was head of Johnson Land and Home, LLC, which is a family business focusing on investment, acquisition, marketing and development of luxury and destination properties, as well as ranch, hunting and recreational lands.
